Athens Street Art Tours Unveiled!
Athens Street Art Trip | DAY 1 – Contemporary Athens
Friday, October 18th | From 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM
Let’s leave ancient Greece behind and dive into the vibrant world of contemporary art on our first day in Athens! We’ll begin at the National Glyptotheque, a treasure trove of modern Greek sculpture housed in the former Royal Stables at the Army Park. Next, we’ll explore galleries and cultural spaces that specialize in urban contemporary art. Our day will include a visit to the Museum of Contemporary Art and a stop at Filopappou Hill for panoramic city views. Throughout the day, we’ll admire stunning murals as we explore areas that are becoming cultural hotspots, with new galleries and creative spaces constantly emerging. To wrap up the day, we’ll toast at a local craft brewery!
Athens Street Art Trip | DAY 2 – Alternative Athens
Saturday, October 19th | From 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM
On Saturday, we’ll immerse ourselves in the city’s rebellious spirit, exploring how it comes alive on the walls. From political stencils to thought-provoking murals, we’ll venture through Athens’ alternative neighborhoods and experience their radical energy. From Exarchia, with its rich countercultural and anarchist history, to former industrial areas now thriving as creative hubs, will reveal the city’s stories through its street art. We’ll make stops at independent bookstores, alternative cafes, and bars, and for lunch, we’ll enjoy street food from the stalls at Athens’ central market. The day promises a bold mix of artistic expression, gritty charm, and cultural resurgence.
Athens Street Art Trip | DAY 3 – Classic Athens
Sunday, October 20th | From 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM
What’s more timeless than the Olympic Games? On Sunday, we’ll capture striking photos of Athens’ abandoned Olympic venues, left untouched for 20 years. From there, we’ll head to the historic heart of Athens to photograph street art and murals framed by iconic classical landmarks like the Acropolis. As we walk through the city’s picturesque neighborhoods, we’ll uncover their urban, creative, and edgy side. After visiting a few contemporary art spaces, we’ll wrap up the day with a relaxing moment on a cool rooftop, enjoying panoramic views of the city.
Athens Street Art Trip | DAY 4 – Beyond Athens
Monday, October 21st| From 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM
On our final day, we’ll venture beyond the city to explore the suburbs and nearby towns, searching for stunning murals and graffiti walls. One of the highlights of this Athens urban walk is Piraeus, a bustling area known for its rich maritime history, lively neighborhoods, and a blend of industrial, commercial, and cultural attractions. We’ll enjoy a seaside lunch before heading to neighborhoods with strong working-class roots, where recent street art festivals and graffiti jams have transformed the walls into canvases of bold expression.
